Year of the Snake   2013

******** Happy New Year ! *********

YOTS  Day 16

2/27/2013

Lots has happened since I last posted.

And I'm pleased to say that the list of artists and their sponsors has been released by SCSDC.  If my count is correct, 25 of us will be creating snakes for this public art project.

I'm delighted to extend a thank you to Carey Jaros of Dealer Tire of Cleveland.  We've touched base and she has graciously extended an invitation to visit the company and view what will prove, I'm sure, to be a very exciting corporate collection of tire-related art.  I'm intrigued by that and pleased to be working in such a pleasant environment.  Can't wait to find a little free time so that I can make the trip into Cleveland to meet her.

Also made arrangements to use a van to pick up the fiberglass snake form. It became very clear after talking to the ladies at Cowpainters —manufacturer of the forms— that at 34' x 34' x 38"  the snake simply isn't going to fit in my car unless I cut a hole in the roof.

The SCSDC info said that the form was going to be big, but until I actually laid out on my work table, I had no idea just how big it is!

A bigger concern was whether or not my contract with SCSDC would allow me to actually post in-process photos on this blog.  Yes!  I received overwhelming encouragement from them to do just that.

In the meantime I can tell you that the color choices for the piece are my favorite complimentary pair, blue and orange.  I've added a black and white tire-tread graphic on the snake's belly for added visual punch!

So keep your eye on this spot for photos of everything and everybody involved in the pick-up day process, March 7th or 8th! See you soon.
