                                     flot.sam    noun
1: floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo; floating debnris; hence,
                                     2: message in a bottle
Sometimes it's tough to rationalize why I'm attracted to projects. This one was easy. It appealed as a farewell tribute to Euclid Beach Park's old pier which is slated for destruction. Because my formative years are embedded here, it seemed fitting to contribute a panel and let it close the book on my family's history.

The materials and knowledge base needed to pull this one off are so far out of my area of expertise and comfort zone that there were moments I regretted jumping in at all. Like any other project, though, it gained its own momentum and created itself, even though I have little knitting experience. The unfamiliar material was a challenge.

The thesis: a wave washes up on the beach. Driftwood, feathers and a fisherman's bobber wait for the farewell message floating to shore in the bottle.
