Ahhh...the old Noel Coward classic movie Blithe Spirit.  What a treat.  No matter that Rex Harrison is so startlingly young or that that he reminds me of Peter Lawford, or that for once, I feel as if I know more about his future than does Professor Higgins.  I'm moved by the delicate coloration.

 About 20 minutes into the movie  I took notice of how the costuming colors offset each other in distractingly delicate ways and were lusciously coordinated within the back drop of the scenes; all of it was so painstakingly integrated into the sets it took my breath away.  Here was a buffet of color that made me salivate; I even forgot the plot waiting to be served up the next helping of lusciousness.

The costuming seemed to me to move way beyond window dressing to very fine art.

Love the red, rose, and two shades of teal in the above photo. My older eye may be becoming easier to sidetrack. Or maybe I've finally come to a place where I can blur focus and zero in on what's inside the moment to see its greater beauty.

Anyway, there was much use of complimentary pastel shades of red and green to create mood and strengthen the characters.  These colors were inspirational and I'll be recycling them in a new sculpture.

Finally, the empty little red armchair I built early in '12 will be filled.(See: Mamma In Her Kerchief.)

"As a kid, I'd got stuck on the idea of monsters as people who had stopped pretending. My psychotronic explorations led me to a new formulation: an artist is a monster that thinks it is human."

From the TV show Rosemary & Thyme:

"While Titian was mixing rose madder
his model reclined on a ladder;
Her position to Titian suggested coition,
so he ran up the ladder and had 'er.

I'll never  see a tuba player again without visualizing an alligator instead.

Now I'm thinking maybe I'll build a green alligator flapper hussy with human legs to put into the little red armchair of the 5/1 post, and call it Envy. (THAT didn't happen...instead Mamma in Her Kerchief sits in that chair.)

What if?

Every morning  I wake to the melodious song of a house wren.  I lie quietly and absorb the tune which seems impossible to score, imagining how the air might have been filled with song eons ago.

The potential for variability and mimic in such a brief musical phrase is mind boggling.

Why not invent and publish humorous birdsong and drawings intended to suggest unknowable feathered voices from the dawn of time?

Don't think for a moment that I haven't had an idea in two months.  I had lots, but have been too busy playing catch up in the studio to sit down and post to this page.

Well, the other night at the BAYarts opening, I was talking to Bruce the Paper Mogul and we tossed around the idea of creating a life-sized bridal gown made from used coffee filters. Are there any interested Cleveland girls out there?
