"We" borrows subtle symbolism from the story of David and Goliath as the legend speaks to modern politics. "We" is the most recent sculpture in my ongoing Donut Project Series in which each individual work has embedded within it an identical, life-sized 3D print of a donut from an earlier sculpture. The challenge of the Donut Project is to see just how far from the original I can venture and still recognize the donut buried within.
The progress photos begin by giving you a quick glimpse of the original sculptured donut blanks, shows a 3D print for scale, then takes you through the "We" process which makes use of Cleveland's own incredible Day Glo Paint. Note that the burlap back pack contains the batteries that light the translucent glass eye. I'm very excited to have had the opportunity to kick up the impact of my work with the application of Day Glo paint. Thank you Waterloo Arts for the invitation to create for DayGloSho 7.
